Vici and Martin’s wedding was at Casa de la Era, in the valley just above Marbella. A first look before the ceremony, vows under an arch of flowers, flamenco guitar with the drinks and a live band until late. They came to dance, and they did.
Casa de la Era is on the road to Ojén, a few minutes from the centre of Marbella. It was an old wheat farm, and the name comes from the era, the round stone floor where farmers used to thresh the wheat. Today it’s a private venue, with terraces, stone stairs and the mountains all around. It’s one of the venues where I work most. Also, the spaces are close to each other, so the day moves easily from one part to the next.
Vici is American and German, and Martin is Swiss and Czech. They lived in Switzerland and were about to move to Australia, so their 120 guests came from half the world. The day started slowly: Vici got ready with make-up by Ella Megan, while Martin waited in another part of the house. Then, before the ceremony, they had a first look. A few minutes just for the two of them, and the nerves were gone.
The ceremony was outside, under an arch of flowers by Deseos Florist, with Malaga Minister as celebrant. There were vows, two little ring bearers and a lot of laughing. Also, their friends were already cheering before they reached the end of the aisle.
The drinks came with flamenco guitar and canapés from Sana Catering, who also planned and coordinated the whole day. Meanwhile, I took Vici and Martin away for their portraits on the old stone stairs and in the gardens, with the evening light. Dinner was outside, with speeches in between and a cake by Lou’s Cakealicious.
After dinner, flamenco dancers pulled the guests onto the dance floor. Then the band started, and the rest is in the photos. Vici and Martin were a very fun couple, charming with everyone and with a lot of energy for dancing. Under the string lights, with friends from everywhere, it was a wonderful day.
