An International Wedding at Hacienda San Jose in Mijas
Today I want to share an intimate yet very international wedding: Tanya and Tom’s celebration at Hacienda San Jose, where I had the pleasure of working as a wedding photographer in Mijas.
Hacienda San Jose is a luxury villa located in the hills of Mijas, Málaga. Specialised in villa weddings, it offers open spaces, panoramic views of the countryside and the coast, and a peaceful atmosphere that feels both exclusive and relaxed. For couples dreaming of an outdoor wedding in Málaga, it is an ideal setting.
Tanya and Tom chose this venue for their destination wedding in southern Spain because it reflected exactly what they were looking for. Their guests travelled from all over the world to attend this wedding in Málaga, a reflection of the couple’s international lifestyle. Both work in humanitarian aid and lived in several countries before meeting during one of their missions in Uganda.
After much thought, they decided that a destination wedding in Málaga was the perfect choice. The location was easy to reach for guests and offered the natural, simple and beautiful outdoor setting they imagined for their wedding day.
The morning began calmly, with the bride getting ready with her mother and closest friends, while the groom prepared nearby with his best men. From the very start, the atmosphere felt relaxed, intimate and full of anticipation.
An Intimate Ceremony and Natural Wedding Celebration in Málaga
The civil wedding ceremony took place outdoors at the villa and was officiated by a close friend of the couple. For Tanya and Tom, it was important that the ceremony felt very personal and intimate, allowing them to enjoy not only the moment itself but also the presence of their loved ones.
After heartfelt speeches by the bride’s best friend and the groom’s brother, the couple exchanged vows and rings. It was a deeply emotional ceremony, full of genuine connection and shared complicity, clearly reflected in the wedding photographs.
After the ceremony, the celebration continued with a relaxed cocktail, featuring a sangria table and live music by The Hula Hula’s. Dinner followed, styled with natural elements and thoughtful details by Perfect Spanish Weddings, who coordinated the entire wedding day beautifully.
Between the cocktail and dinner, we took time to create natural wedding portraits around the villa. From the Andalusian landscapes to the inner courtyard surrounded by orange trees, every corner of Hacienda San Jose offered a timeless and cinematic backdrop.
